Tips And Tricks To Make Slow-Feeder Frozen Treats:

The Base

The first thing you need to make a yummy pie is to set it up with some sort of sticky base. You need something that can hold your toppings and freeze solid. Ingredients like plain yogurt and peanut butter are easy to find and most pups love them!

Here’s a few popular options to use as a base:

  • Plain yogurt
  • Broth - Make sure it’s low or zero sodium!
  • Peanut Butter
  • Coconut oil
  • Unsweetened applesauce
  • Oatmeal
  • Cream cheese
  • Cottage cheese
  • Plain cooked potato - This makes a great savory pie base.
  •

    Toppings

This is where you can get fun! It’s important to remember not to top your pie with more than you would usually give them anyway. This is a great way to get extra veggies, fruits, vitamins, protein, or new foods into your furry friends diet.

  • Fruit - full of fiber, antioxidants, vitamins,
  • Bananas
  • Blueberries
  • Apples
  • Strawberries
  • Mango
  • Cooked pumpkin
  • Cooked potato
  • Carrot
  • Peas
  • Dog treats
  • Frozen peas
  • Cinnamon
  • Honey
  • Meat - Cooked or raw depending on their diet and restrictions. Remember to always consult a Veterinarian if you're unsure!
  • Eggs

  • Cheesecake Base

Why not create a homemade cheesecake for your pup? Mix up some unflavored cottage cheese, cream cheese, and/or yogurt in a bowl with some honey to create a sweet and savory base. Top your “cheesecake” base with some chopped fruit, like blueberries and strawberries, or even puree into a jam to top with!
